War losses

War losses and war relocations

As a result of the Second World War, the SLUB is now missing more than 200,000 books, manuscripts and maps. A small part of these were destroyed during the attack on Dresden. The larger part (approximately 200,000 volumes of the Saxon State Library and approximately 30,000 volumes of the library of the Technical University) were confiscated by the Soviet trophy commissions in Saxony between May 1945 and May 1946 at the removal sites.

The catalogue records of 8,694 maps available until 1945 are visible as images in their geographical structure.
